A Story Carved from Timber

From the forest to your home, North Eden Timber crafts products that tell the story of Australia’s hardwood heritage — sustainably, ethically, and with unmatched precision.

Our Story

Founded in 2004 by Mick Loudon, North Eden Timber began as a small, determined operation in Pambula on the Sapphire Coast of NSW.

Mick’s vision was clear from the start — to honour the incredible strength, beauty and character of Australia’s native hardwoods, while protecting the forests they come from. Early on, we focused on reclaiming and repurposing timbers that would otherwise be lost, giving them a second life in new builds and renovations.

Over time, our reputation for quality and integrity grew. We expanded our range, introduced fire-resistant hardwood cladding to meet Australia’s evolving safety standards and invested in innovative milling techniques to maximise yield and minimise waste.

Today, we supply architects, builders, designers and homeowners across Australia — yet our heart remains firmly in our local community, supporting jobs and sustainable industry on the Sapphire Coast.

Machining into products

Once dried, the timber is machined into cladding, decking, flooring or bespoke orders

Solar Kiln Drying

Seasoned timber enters our solar kilns.  Low and steady heat (35-41 degrees) and airflow reduce moisture to 13% for exterior use or 10-12% for interior use.  This takes 8 - 12 weeks

The First Cut

At the mill, each log is cut into boards in a way that maximises what nature has given us

From Forest to Finished Product

Every journey begins in the forest. Our logs are sustainably sourced from state forests, private land, and carefully managed forest thinnings that promote healthy regrowth and thriving wildlife corridors. Each log is selected with care for its quality and integrity, ensuring we balance responsible forest management with premium timber supply

Block Staking

Stripping and Air Seasoning

By hand, we place ‘racking sticks’ between each row, allowing fresh air to season the timber naturally. This process takes 4–12 months depending on size and species

Hand-Picked. Hand-Packed

Once graded, the timber is hand-picked, carefully packed, and prepared for delivery to meet customer requirements

Good Things
Take Time

Producing high-quality hardwood is a slow and deliberate process.  Plan your projects early to ensure you have your timber ready when you need it

Sustainability

Working with Nature, Not Against It

Sustainability isn’t just a part of our business — it’s the foundation we build on. At North Eden Timber, we source hardwoods from responsibly managed forests and reclaim timbers that still have decades of life left in them. By maximizing yield, recycling offcuts and producing products designed to last for generations, we reduce waste and protect one of Australia’s most valuable natural resources. Every board we craft is a step toward a future where quality, safety and environmental responsibility go hand in hand

From the mill floor to the office, every member of our team brings a wealth of experience, a passion for craftsmanship and a shared commitment to producing timber that meets the highest standards. Together, we turn raw hardwood into products that tell a story of skill, care and integrity
